Meet the Team

At Otala Partners, our team of seasoned professionals brings together deep expertise in energy infrastructure, corporate development, M&A, and project management. With a diverse background spanning engineering, finance, and capital markets, we are committed to driving innovation and sustainable growth in the energy sector.

Our leadership team, including Mason Miller, Amir Memic, and Dimitar Stoimenov, combines decades of experience across district energy systems, data center development, renewable energy, and power transmission projects. Together, we lead Otala Partners with a shared vision of delivering efficient, scalable, and comprehensive energy solutions.

Partner

Mason Miller

Mason Miller has been active in the infrastructure and energy industry since 2001, overseeing more than $500 million in acquisitions and similar transactions as a principal and operating partner across the full investment cycle. Throughout his career, Mason has owned, operated, developed, and optimized a diverse range of critical infrastructure assets, including cogeneration/CHP systems, mining operations, barge loadout facilities, rail and other transportation assets, and water/wastewater systems.

As a Partner at Otala Partners, Mason is instrumental in leading the company’s initiatives in district energy M&A and new project development, data center development and operations, generation plants (natural gas, cogeneration, solar, and wind), and power transmission projects. His leadership is crucial in driving Otala’s mission to deliver innovative and sustainable energy solutions, focusing on efficiency and scalability. One of his current key operations includes the St. Louis district energy system, which provides highly-reliable clean steam, electricity, hot water, and chilled water to over 40 million square feet of building space in the city’s central business district.

In addition to his work at Otala Partners, Mason continues to oversee the development and optimization of critical infrastructure, including one of the largest water/wastewater automation and controls companies in the eastern United States.

Mason holds a B.S. from Northwestern University and a J.D. from Washington & Lee University.

Amir Memic, PE

As a Partner at Otala Partners, Amir Memic oversees the firm’s project development and day-to-day operations while assisting with M&A and financial modeling activities. He plays a pivotal role in advancing Otala’s portfolio of district energy systems, data center development, generation plants (natural gas, cogeneration, solar, wind), and power transmission projects.

Before joining Otala, Amir was the Director of Development at NextEra Energy, where he led a vast development portfolio, and participated in large-scale M&A transactions. His efforts resulted in the successful interconnection of 1.5 gigawatts of renewable energy (solar, wind, storage) and planning for 5+ gigawatts of future generation. He also spearheaded transmission infrastructure projects across Texas, coordinating with global renewable developers and major industry stakeholders.

Earlier in his career, Amir spent 8.5 years at the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA), where he began in technical engineering design and later led an operations team managing over 5,000 miles of transmission infrastructure. He concluded his tenure at LCRA in senior leadership within corporate strategy, driving key organizational initiatives.

Amir holds an M.B.A. from the McCombs School of Business and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Cockrell School of Engineering, both at the University of Texas at Austin. He is also a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas.

Dimitar Stoimenov, CFA

Dimitar Stoimenov is an accomplished, results-driven corporate development and capital markets executive with extensive transaction experience across multiple sectors. As a Partners at Otala Partners, he is responsible for creating and implementing financial models, strategic initiatives, collaborating with internal teams and industry stakeholders to drive sustainable market and geographic expansion.

Prior to joining Otala Partners, Dimitar held leadership positions with an energy efficiency startup, a growth-oriented international energy storage company, and global investment banks, including Bank of America and Credit Suisse. He began his career in the energy industry 15 years ago with Credit Suisse’s Global Power and Renewables group, where he directed financings and M&A transactions totaling more than $5 billion for large electric utility companies and emerging solar, wind, and alternative fuels companies.

Dimitar holds an M.B.A. from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School and a B.B.A. in Finance and Accounting, Summa Cum Laude, from Texas Christian University.
